The Rossini Renaissance

An important figure in the Rossini Renaissance is the late Alberto Zedda, pictured above in the Teatro Rossini during the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. The Festival played and continues to play a central role in bringing Rossini’s less known works to life. Tributes to Maestro Zedda are posted elsewhere on this site, as are tributes to Philip Gossett.

In the past few years we have lost the three pillars of the Renaissance, most recently Bruno Cagli. These are difficult times for Rossini as there is no obvious figure to take on the mantle to secure what has been achieved. We have wonderful artists, enthusiastic audiences, and hopefully new artistic leadership will appear.
